Be Inspired or The Pledge
Tuesday, January 19th, 2010
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream Speech” rightly receives an enormous amount of attention, but there is another speech of his that inspires me even more. It’s the speech that he gave the day before his assassination in Memphis, TN and is popularly titled, “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop.” Despite threats against his life, Dr. King did not back away from his life’s calling. The passion and lack of fear in his voice is contagious. I saw it yesterday on a blog I read daily. I encourage you to watch the short video and be inspired by the life of Dr. King.

I have been guilty of texting while driving. I rationalize that the message is short or somehow it’s important. In watching Oprah on Monday I realized how incredibly stupid I’ve been. I am one of the fortunate to get the message of the dangers of texting or talking on a cell phone before something tragic happened to me or anyone else because of my actions. I took the No Phone Zone pledge with The Mr. last night, vowing not to be a distracted driver. I can quit things “cold-turkey” and as this is a serious issue I am 100% committed. It’s a dangerous place on the roads these days with all many distractions right in the car with us. Please be cognizant of the responsibility of driving and make the roads safer for all by taking the pledge as well and spreading the word. For more information visit Oprah.com
“She” I am so glad you made this pledge.
