Mission Impossible (or) Spousal Shout-Outs

Mission Impossible or Spousal Shout-Outs

Growing up I was much more interested in sports, television, video games, and playing with friends than working on home improvement projects with my dad. Needless to say, my “Mr. Fix-it” skills are lacking. I’m not completely inept (I mean I know how to change a light bulb), but for anything that requires more than brute force (mowing, snow shoveling) I have a lot to learn. When I encountered the latest fix-up project it came with a small voice recording that went like this (to get the full effect, please begin playing the above YouTube Video and continue reading now):

“Good morning Mr. H. Your mission should you decide to accept it is to save your bathroom’s towel rack from complete destruction. As you already know, the towel rack has been in intense distress and is now at the point of total collapse. Previous rescue attempts have been unsuccessful and have left a gaping hole in the wall that further inhibits victory. You will need to visit the local hardware store, identify key materials, and salvage the towel rack without any collateral damage. As always, should you fail miserably, wifey will disavow any knowledge of your actions and will shake her head in contempt upon the sight of you. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds…”

I’ll let you know how it goes.

I caught a bit of the 67TH Annual Golden Globe Awards Sunday night. I was so happy to see one of my favorite movies receive a few awards. Up from Disney Pixar is not just a kids movie but a fantastic story about love. It’s a story that is inevitable to all (maybe not the adventure to South America in a flying house) but love, friendship, and the departure of loved ones in death. If you haven’t seen it, put it on the list for a movie night with your spouse.

I was also impressed with the number of celebrities who gave a heartfelt shout-out to their spouse: Mo’Nique, Robert Downey Jr., Sandra Bullock, etc. I was laughing at some and on the verge of tears for others. I think marriage got a boost last night! It was beautiful. Congratulations to all the winners. As always thanks for visiting. Have a wonderful day.
