• Weekend Challenge Review•

We completed our Weekend Challenge on a Friday date night (you know it’s perfectly okay to date your spouse after you’re married right?). My initial thought after viewing Couple’s Retreat was that it fits He Said She Said blog. Let me explain using the HSSSblog.com criteria:
b - Both sexes. Couple’s Retreat is the perfect co-ed movie. It can’t be pegged as female focused romantic comedy or male focused raunchy comedy.
l - Lifelike. The characters are a bit stereotypical but it is a decently accurate representation of marriage.
o - Overall message. The message of the movie is this: Marriage isn’t something a couple should “just get through” as it should be enjoyable along the way.
g - Good fun. There are multiple laugh out loud moments throughout the movie. I was borderline crying from laughter during the Guitar Hero scene.
My final thought (with inserted joke for those who have seen the movie) is this…your marriage will be “Encouraged! Yeah!” by the movie Couple’s Retreat.

I had the best time on our cinema Weekend Challenge. Couples Retreat was a hit! It featured adorable kids, an enjoyable story line, and inspiration. It’s a must see movie for married folks; and at the same time, can be appreciated by those who aren’t. My aha moments were this:
• Pierce and I have to take our honeymoon soon and a beach location like Eden in the movie will do just fine.
• This would have been the perfect movie to see with a group of married friends.
• Having married friends is good for your marriage.
In short, we let nothing get in the way of enjoying a night at the cinema and yes, I did wear a Barbie t-shirt (it’s my favorite!).

I’m intrigued by you saying you liked it–it got such terrible reviews!
Other great movies that I really enjoyed about marriages: an oldie with Alan Alda and Carol Burnett: The Four Seasons and Steve Martin’s Parenthood (and yes, it’s about parenthood, but it also has a lot to say about how parenthood changes marriages). Other ones that you like?
It’s worth watching even if you prefer to wait until DVD. Oldies are great so we’ll be checking out your suggestions. Especially Parenthood, as we are on that adventure too ![]()
One marriage themed movie we really enjoy is Tyler Perry’s-Why Did I Get Married…great movie, check out the trailer.
