All About The Scene (or) Under The Umbrella

All About The Scene or Under The Umbrella

Weekend Challenge Review

This weekend, our challenge was to follow the best marriage advice we’ve ever received, “Never stop dating your spouse.” Our initial plan was to have a romantic night out together on Saturday. We had a gift certificate to an extremely nice restaurant and were going to use it for appetizers and dessert. However, plans change and we were able to practice a skill that is needed in life and in marriage: the skill to shift on the fly. Our date night was cancelled, but we didn’t let ourselves off the hook. Our marriage is just too important to us.

Our date became an afternoon getaway. In the midst of a busy weekend, we were able to focus on one thing: each other. We were excited to be together on our ride in the car to the restaurant, but our date didn’t officially start until we were able to sit down and enjoy the environment around us proving that sometimes it’s really all about the scene.

A cool breeze, great conversation, and flirty gazes were my favorite moments of this Weekend Challenge. Pierce and I enjoyed a new part of Omaha on a date. We shared an afternoon date at Blue Planet Natural Grill in Aksarben Village. It was exciting to try somewhere new together. The food was yummy. My month long craving for a veggie burger was satisfied. It was a beautiful afternoon so we sat outside on the patio. It felt as if we were in our own little world under a green umbrella.

It was nice to be leisure on a Sunday afternoon following church service. We laughed and planned while we ate. We discussed the many options of Pierce’s medical career and my upcoming start back to school. I am always encouraged when I talk to Pierce about the hurdles and jitters I feel regarding school. After our date I felt “all caught up.” It was nice to get out of the house and have no other distractions to take us away from just enjoying the moment.
